Doek! Calls for Submissions – Be Part of Namibia’s Leading Literary Movement

Namibia’s first literary magazine, Doek!, is inviting submissions for its fifteenth issue—and this is your chance to be featured in one of Africa’s most exciting literary platforms!

Writers and artists across Namibia, Africa, and the African diaspora are encouraged to submit fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art before the deadline: March 31, 2025.

About Doek!
Founded in 2019 and based in Windhoek, Doek! is an online literary magazine committed to cultivating Namibia’s literary scene and connecting African storytellers with a global audience. Through its pages, the magazine amplifies fresh voices, showcases dynamic perspectives, and celebrates the power of storytelling in all its forms.

Who Can Submit?
Fiction & Poetry – Open to Namibian writers and poets.
Nonfiction & Visual Art – Open to contributors from Namibia, Africa, and the African diaspora.

What Are We Looking For?
Fiction: Compelling, plot-driven short stories that linger in the mind—whether crime, fantasy, historical, horror, magical realism, romance, sci-fi, or any bold genre-bending piece.
Poetry: Evocative, page-written poetry that pushes boundaries and stirs the senses.
Nonfiction: Essays, memoirs, and narrative nonfiction that illuminate both the known and the unknown.
Visual Art: Photography, illustration, and graphic design that reveal hidden layers of the world—and ourselves.
