Journey to Nomadic Kenya

As Africans desire to soar past the limitations set by the neocolonial entanglements. African residents experience, due to abhorring constitutions the majority of her policy makers inherited from Colonials. Spreading across the spheres of the western grounds to return fulfilled, blending with ethnicities that are unfamiliar with their cultures nor appreciable of their norms—the Maasai tribe begs to differ.

In a contemporary perception, there are little to no African virtues that are still applauded. As history is a twists and turns, just like Zarathustra’s ascension. It is profound to review how the global approach of Africans mixing with races unfamiliar with her virtues makes it the next historical fade if steps are not arraigned to preserve her heritage. This results in the decision of the Maasai tribe of Kenya, a tribe solely concerned with their ancestral norms and gallivanting with wildlife.

The essence of this is to preserve their small tribe, One thing Africans naturally prized is “Culture” and across the globe, the Maasai tribe gets over 3 million visitors, they are a fraction of the driving force of tourism in Kenya. The journey to Maasai leaves rhetorics as to why they choose to be remote though they are surrounded by Western civilization. According to findings and data accumulated through surveys on people trooping into Africa for tourism, the Maasai tribe seems to stand out and finds happiness in their solitude, they insist. And this is in the vast savannah, under the African skies, where they dwell— the Maasai tribe acclaims happiness is self-realization and not a product of our asset but amongst them their wealth is measured by number of children and cattles.

Their nomadic existence, a treasure they prize—For the Maasai, happiness lies in the simple things, the rhythm of their days, the songs that nature sings. They cherish the bond with their cattle— a symbol of wealth, a livelihood they pursue. Aside from the Maasai, there are many other tribes in Africa with such ethics such as the Zambezi.

This draws to a knowledgeable evaluation of how cultures have been interwoven since the time of Zarathustra, to enable Africans to pay attention to their blending. How they feast retains the locally accustomed processes of their tribe. The traditional Maasai diet consists of six basic foods: milk, meat, fat, blood, honey, and tree bark. Both fresh and curdled milk are drunk. Fresh milk is drunk in a calabash (gourd) and is sometimes mixed with fresh cattle blood.

From the ancient Mesopotamian conquerors, there are stories waiting to be rediscovered such as how the Maasai successfully broke out from the Nubian heritage. Similarly to the Romans, Assyrians, Kurds, and Alexander the Great which all left their marks in the sands of time across the Nubian African hemisphere and faded away the Kushite, Abu Simbel and more—the Maasai remains one of the Nubian Natives still around till today and are known as the tallest black tribe.

It’s however fascinating how power shifted through the ages, from Tiberius to Caligula, Claudius across the Roman emperors. Just as Severus, Emperor Justinian, and Nero, the persecutor of ancient Christianity, indeed left his mark, like a dark stain on the fabric of time in North Africa, East and Sahel Africa—the Maasai remain one of the native Nubian tribes still existent today as they desire to leave their legacy in the sands of time.

Unlike the western Africa tribes who wore animal hyde as war garbs. The Maasai tribe goes to war bare skin with a protective shell around their face to protect their head from injuries.
